Monday Night Brewery is packing the heat with this beer of the week.
Serrano Eye Patch Ale IPA
This week’s BOW is Serrano Eye Patch Ale IPA. This serrano pepper infused beer is brewed by Atlanta, Georgia’s Monday Night Brewery. Monday Night’s story is actually very funny because it starts at an Atlanta Bible study group. How many beer companies do you know that started at a Bible study? How many beers has your local church crafted, huh? Any who, years later, Monday Night would grow to become one of the most popular beers in the Georgia craft beer culture. Thus leading them to brew one of my favorite pepper infused beers, Serrano Eye Patch Ale. SEPA is a spin-off of their popular Eye Patch Ale IPA and is filed under their Clip-On Series–a group of remix beers that are only available for 3-4 months at a time. The pepper kick in SEPA is not too heavy, but it holds enough kick to wipe away the bitterness of the hops. The aroma is definitely that of a fresh cut Serrano pepper some even liken it to smelling a bit like queso dip. It pairs well with spicy food, of course, burgers, and fish. I would recommend maybe 1 or 2 of these at the bar, but I can’t see this as an all-night drinker.
